(sorry bin derzeit ziemlich eingespannt)

Hey,

I'm new to this forum.
Sorry for the english post but my german is not the best, I understand most things you write but my grammar is not the best.

I just want to tell ya'll who participated in this PSD City contest, keep the good work, all of you who tried impressed me how quick you learned this basic's of isometric pixel art.

Sacrifice really I like you'r manual according to isometric pixel art, really good work.
As I work private alot with pixel art, for several 2d Online Games mostly custom pixelart and not isometric pixelart I could say I demonstrate alot of respect for you. I mean I know about several other styles of graphic design but none is as hard as a real good pixel art graphic as you have to place pixel for pixel and shade em pixel for pixel.

The only thing I see so far is you could try to make you'r outlines abit more soft.
-> example how to do that:

For any questions to my work, or questions to pixel art feel free to ask me, I will try to answer as much as I know.

Greetings

Steve

Hey again ;)

I just wanna show you something I made with "pixelart"..it should show you that you may have more posibillities for a pixel art graphic then just isometric, you could use pixel art really good for webdesign elements like header graphics, for gui's or for buttons.
Okay...lets start with my icerose:

This is a graphic with decent but really effecient shading, sometimes less can be more also at detail and shading look this rose made of ice uses only 3 main colors.

There are several shading styles for pixel art too, 2 main styles are the style you see above and the style called dithering.
Dithering is even used at the windows XP logo at the microsoft bootscreen, well it is some kind pixel art too ;)
Dithering is to to create a gradient with just a few colors. Just made and fast example so you may see what I mean, best is that the heigth of an graphic is easy to variable so it may get an more round look with just 2 colors merging.

For sure this statue is not nearly as good as you'r sacrifice, but that's fine.
Okay so if you zoom in the graphic you may see the "dithering" at the socket of it.
It gives the socket smoother transitions.
Okay the last is just an isometric art mixed with non isometric pixel art elements.
I made it about 4 years ago, as an element for a game and I had no time to make a new one since I made the 2 ones above yet, it is just to show ya a mix ^^.
But yea everything is Pixel Art!!

Okay so thanks ;) and I hope I got soon abit time to build something for this leet city.

Sacrifice a question:
Which part of the city may I pixel?

Thanks for being so nice,

Greetings

Steve

hey :)

no, so ahm i think that your statue is a lot better than mine.
so about this dithering sounds really interessting, i've only learn
about it in school and we only got the introductions,
so i just learnd it myself.
But this dithering is really cool, also the other one.

If you have time enough (once upon a time gg.. ) may you could
write a tutorial about those technique? would be great

At the city you could built up at this time every place,
because the poeple hadn't post again, so all fields are free
again.

edit:
i like this one :)

AW: [Pixelart-Contest] Psd City

Its very nice. Can you make a tutorial about pixelarts like this?
see you

redro

Hey redro,

Thanks, I will make a tutorial about general pixelart if I got a few min for it, but I'm really busy with work right now srry.
But if you got any questions you could ask me :)
Beside I think the pixel art tutorial by sacrifice is also a good start.
Remember Pixel Art is something wonderful.
It's a future trend. Big Companies, also in germany are making promotion material yet with pixel art, even in germany.
For example I found this huge pixel art poster in germany:

So keep working on you'r pixel art skills, pixel art is growing to a nice new design style, since it convinces with it's clean detailed structured pixels!
